How to Attract Talent at Recruitment Fairs
How to Attract Talent at Recruitment Fairs Recruitment fairs and graduate exhibitions are brilliant ways to engage with a talented pool of candidates willing to provide your business with the new skills and innovation to continue development and commercial growth. At these fairs serious planning can be required to ensure you stand out and business is marketed in the right way to attract top talent. Does size matter? Definitely not, small companies have their advantages in this market place and despite large assumptions; people are not necessarily lured to big global brands, as there are plenty of things you can do to attract people on a slimmer budget. Display Company Cultures Talent is devised between those that are attracted to the ethos of your company and those that are lured into the companyâs aura. Often small companies appear to be more laid back and the global brands are gleaned with polish and corporate responsibility. Allow the heat of your culture to be displayed in tandem with the work ethic to attract a wide mix of people. If you are targeting graduates include both somebody who recently succeeded on the graduate scheme and a senior manager twenty years on to display both the cultural present, and the prospective future. If character is dominating your choice of a hire then present personality at every available opportunity. Dress in casual attire and engage the public to chat with you over coffee and assess personality and positivity. This is a great authentic way to understand the people who may be working for you. Flexibility Working arrangements and company satisfaction are defined by the flexibility provided in employment and the world is filled with people seeking that flexibility. Design and promote different roles within the company that allow you to maintain a social life and mix the professional with the personal. There is no hard advertising with the main job role at a fair and intertwining the mechanics of the position. Company perks including holidays and cars always go down a treat. The Stand Donât underestimate the number of variations a recruitment stand can have to engage your audience. The exhibition stand design can incorporate digital technology, portable displays, advertising and social media. Encourage people to Tweet their experience in real-time and continue to publicise the event socially prior and post the exhibition day. This is excellent publicity that will likely go a significant way to helping the recruitment process and is an excellent public relations exercise. At your stand why not provide industry resources as an incentive for people to visit and take something else away from the experience. Live demonstrations or interactive media of your companies working life is likely to go the extra mile to impress people and never fail to communicate by starting up the initial conversation. Social Media Promote the event on social media by creating a timeline an event on Facebook, Twitter and your companyâs newsfeed and newsletter. Build excitement based around the additional opportunity provided by people able to take to company senior and professionals about the industry and jobs. Donât forget the global online community is massive and the needle in a haystack is more likely to be found by media publications of all employer engagement then targeted streams of communication. Fear Your High School Reunion! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Fear Your High School Reunion! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Last Saturday night I was the âplus oneâ at a high school reunion, where people were frankly in shock. It had been 30 years â" 30 years! â" since theyâd all been together at Lakeland Regional High in Wanaque, New Jersey. How will you account for three decades that start the moment you begin life, without adult supervision? How will you explain the lapse of time between now and when you did or didnât get into your first choice of college, maybe started spending student loan money like youâd never have to repay it or just up and started working or maybe drifting? One thing for sure. Be careful of getting a job. You might look up 30 years later, waiting for retirement to kick in. Working at a big box store or whatever you land at 18 can be addictive. When youâre too young, the feeling of money in your pocket never gets old⦠until you do. Then in 30 years you wind up faced with the lives of adventurers and risk-takers, and youâre in the mirror with the same old, same old. Imagine walking into a hotel ballroom with a deejay playing the soundtrack of your teenage years. Will you still be schlepping your high school sweetheart around the floor? Imagine the tyranny is over. The dominance of jocks, the secrecy of nerds, the relentless buoyancy of cheer squad and the brotherhood of hipsters smoking in the parking lot â" all behind you. (Actually, the hipsters will still go out into the parking lot to smoke.) Hereâs what I observed in place of these old roles. You become a person over 30 years. You drop the attitude, the chip on your shoulder, and the previously endless scrutiny of whoâs hot and whoâs not. Instead you remember so much, so fondly. Everyone talks to everyone. There are hugs and tears and the whole group dancing badly on the dance floor, in some strange geometric shape that simply means âwe survived!â Fear your high school reunion. Let that motivate you to live a life with stories to tell, adventures youâve had and failure that taught you resilience and perseverance and came with a big dose of optimism. Youâll probably be wrinkled, fat, bald or looking older than you ever thought possible. But, itâs all good if happened with the excitement of life experiences. Now get to work on living â" really living! Youll need stories to tell.

Read on for six tips to get started! Tip #1: Know how much is earned and spent every month Use debit card for all spending to keep track. Cut any and all unnecessary spending. Tip #2: Determine how much is really left over to repay loans and debts After necessities like food and housing, how much is really available to repay debts? Tip #3: Start with the highest interest rate debt Credit cards may be the highest interest rate offendersan average 19.1 percent APR! Negotiate a lower interest rate with the lender. Use asset-backed loans, such as those requiring collateral (home or auto), with care. Tip #4: Free up additional cash In order to make more than minimum payments, consider sale of significant assets, e.g. automobile, jewellery, etc.: Consider a loan from an insurance policy. Request a loan from family if possible. Three Pivotal Questions To Ask Yourself Before The New Year - Kathy Caprino
Three Pivotal Questions To Ask Yourself Before The New Year Working as I have for over 30 years first as a corporate executive, then a marriage and family therapist, and now career coach, Iâve worked with thousands of people to overcome virtually every type of challenge that human beings grapple with. From overcoming traumatic childhoods, to repairing crushed self-worth, to leaving narcissistic, toxic bosses and jobs, building stronger communication styles and relationships, finding work they love, and learning to appreciate themselves for who they are, Iâve seen that so many life problems have at their root four critical areas of lack: 1) Lack of self-awareness (of how powerful and amazing you really are) 2) Lack of vision (of what you really want to do and how to get there) 3) Lack of a positive and healthy belief, mindset and energy system that can support a satisfying life 4) And, finally, a lack of fierce bravery to rise up, speak up and stand up BOLDLY for yourself, and change your life So when I was invited to give a TEDx talk in November for TEDx Centennial Park Women, I realized this was my chance to say something vitally important on the TEDx stage about these four critical human challenges. In the two months of developing the content for this talk, I thought for many hours about what would be the most pivotal and helpful questions I could pose that would help both men and women realize their full gifts and potential, close their âpower gapsâ and get moving to building something amazing in their lives. And what I wanted most was to help people finally address their lack of power and vision so they could see themselves as powerful enough to change what they longed to be different in their lives and work. The crux of the talk is that to change directions in your life â" to build something youâll be wonderfully proud of and will cherish every day of your life and work, you need to See Bravely, Speak Bravely, and Shine Bravely. And the vast majority of people I meet and work with arent doing that, not by a long shot. But I dont judge that. I wasnt nearly brave enough either for a full 18 unhappy years in my corporate life, until a huge breakdown moment (a crisis, in fact) that changed everything. Hereâs my personal story on how I braved up in my own life, and how becoming braver in your life will transform everything: How Can You Brave Up in 2017 and beyond? Answer three critical questions. To build your bravery for 2017 and beyond, Iâd ask you to take a few hours before the new year, sit down alone with a white pad of paper, turn off all devices and distractions, and answer as honestly and deeply as you can these three questions: 1. What makes you who you are? Write down anything and everything that has influenced who you have become today. Nothing is too small or too big. Write it all down, including: Your cultural ancestry The histories of your parents, and the messages that you received (either unconsciously or consciously) from their lives and relationship Your upbringing, and the beliefs of your parents, siblings and authority figures Your pivotal moments that changed everything What you were taught about yourself, about power, gender roles, money, support, religion, spirituality, support, etc. The relationships that crushed you and the relationships that healed you What you believe about our own worthiness to make a difference in the world Your passions, talents, gifts What you have always been known for What you value deeply and believe in wholeheartedly Why is this important: In order to build a life you love, you have to gain awareness of who you are, and why. Greater awareness equals greater choice. Once you know what youre made of (and how amazing, special and unique that is), then you can choose what to do with it. 2. What came easily to you as a child, teen and young adult? Write down all the skills, talents, activities and endeavors that came easily to you during the early years of your life. What made hours fly by? What made you joyful and thrilled to be alive? Was it art, singing, design, athetics, poetry, storytelling, computer design, etc.? Before you were taught that everything had to be perfect, before your parents or teachers made you feel you had to get an A+ in everything you touched, before you learned that how you performed would impact how good you felt about yourself, what did you love to engage in? Why is this important: One thing were not taught in life is that work doesnt have to be a terrible struggle, and doesnt have to exhaust us to the bone. And that we often have great skills that we dont like to use. On the other hand, the talents that came easy to you back then (and now) are exactly the ones youre meant to be using in your life. These are your natural talents and gifts that you want to leverage more powerfully in your life and work, so that work will be easy, and not a terrible, devastating struggle. 3. What are the 20 âfacts of you and what youve achieved and contributed? Write down 20 irrefutable, undeniable facts of what youâve done, accomplished, achieved and contributed in your life and work that youre proud of, and why those facts matter. Expand them to include metrics, scope, context and outcomes that describe how you moved the needle for a person, an organization or a cause. What have you done that has made a true difference to someone and to you? These facts are the essence of what youâve done and the impact youâve made, and demonstrate what value and believe in. These facts are important to share with everyone you meet. And remember, sharing is not bragging. Why is this important? So many people today, particularly women, are afraid of speaking powerfully about themselves of sounding like they are forceful, assertive or bragging. But when you are able to identify and talk compellingly about the true contributions youve made and why they matters to you, youll begin to attract many more ideal opportunities and wonderful individuals in your life that will help you be of service in exactly the ways that matter to you. * * * * * * * * * * * When you are able to answer these three questions fully and deeply, and when you finally own how amazing, important and valuable you are in this world, youâll stop wondering what your vision is for the future. Youâll know that it involves moving forward to be of service to others in powerful ways, leveraging exactly those talents that come easily and joyfully to you. As Dr. Maria Nemeth shared in her wonderful book The Energy of Money: We are all happiest when weâre demonstrating in physical reality what we know to be true about ourselves, when weâre giving form to our Life Intentions in a way that contributes to others.â When youâre doing that, youâre proud and happy to be alive, and the pain, suffering, and disillusionment you feel now about your life and career will begin to fall away. So..what do you want to do differently next year, given all that you know about yourself now? Heres to bringing yourself forward in powerful ways, and to building your brave and beautiful 2017, making the impact you dream of. To build a braver, more fulfilling life, join me in my 12-month Brave Up Life Mastery program, and take my Amazing Career Project video training.
